- The Millennium Challenge Corporation Fiscal Year 2018 Scorecard shows that the Philippines received the lowest score in controlling corruption and ensuring rule of law. The percentile ranking of the Philippines in low income group category was 50 percent in control of corruption after scoring zero and 47 percent in rule of law after scoring -0.01. However, the country met the standard in government effectiveness at 80 percent and freedom of information at 77 percent.
- The majority of graduates from the University of the Philippines dominated the October 2017 Certified Public Accountant licensure exam, registering a 100 percent passing rate. Out of 14,816 examinees, a total of 4,511 passed the licensure exam. All of the 69 applicants from UP Diliman passed the board.
- According to the Armed Forces of the Philippines, two suspected Maute gunmen were killed by government troops as the military continued clearing Marawi City of possible stragglers of the extremist group.
- Carina Dayondon, the Filipina who climbed to the top of Mt. Everest, is set to sail to China aboard a wooden replica of an ancient boat in the hopes of boosting national pride in a forgotten maritime prowess. Dayondon is planning to sail from Manila to southern China early next year, recreating trade and migration voyages made before Spaniards colonized the Philippines in the 1500s.
- A 4 ft.-long crocodile monitor was spotting sunning itself on top of a hedge Wednesday afternoon in the backyard of a Riverside home.
- Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro says his country will begin the process of restructuring debt in the face of a deep economic crisis and foreign sanctions.
- Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan plans for Turkey's national car by creating a consortium of five companies selected by him and will be unveiled by 2021.
- Subaru discontinued the Exiga Crossover7 MPV, signalling the end of MPVs in the lineup due to rise of crossovers.
- Actress Mindy Kaling will spearhead a TV adaptation of Four Weddings and a Funeral film, according to reports.
- Nickelodeon officially announced the voice cast of the upcoming TMNT series coming this 2018; Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It stars Kat Graham as April O'Neil, Josh Brener as Donatello, Omar Miller as Raphael, Brandon Mychal Smith as Michelangelo, and Ben Schwartz as Leonardo.
