Following last week's championship win, Nico Rosberg, the top driver from the Mercedes-AMG team, made a shocking announcement that he will officially retire from Formula One racing.
The 31-year-old son of former F1 champion Keke Rosberg raced in 206 F1 GP races in his career while winning 23 races, 30 pole positions, 20 fastest laps, and recently, his world title following the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
In his statement released from his official Facebook page, Rosberg states that being a world champion in Formula One has been his target on his 25-year career and he began to think about ending his career once he won the championship.
