- President Rodrigo Duterte approved the continuation of joint military exercises with the US forces but the number of drills will be reduced and will exclude mock assaults, according to defense officials. According to Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Duterte allowed the government to proceed with a 2014 defense accord with Washington permitting US forces to be stationed temporarily at five designated Philippine military camps, along with their warships and planes.

- The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines were saddened by the Supreme Court decision to bury the late dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos at the LNMB. According to them, burying Marcos will not bring peace and unity to the country.

- The Philippine National Police has fired 24 cops in an ongoing investigation in the Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa murder case.

- The National Bureau of Investigation filed drug trafficking bribery against Senator Leila de Lima and 17 others in connection with the Bilibid drug trade.

- In the aftermath of Donald Trump's election victory, thousands sparked protest against the president-elect.

- Indians awoke to confusion yesterday after the government scrapped the highest-denomination currency notes overnight to prevent money laundering in India, where many in the poor and middle-class still make day-to-day transactions in cash. As of midnight Tuesday, all 500 and 1,000 rupee notes had no cash value.

- TV presenter and car enthusiast Jay Leno talks about Tesla in a new CNBC web series, Shift, streaming this week.

- The sequel to the 2013 Pacific Rim movie now has a name. It will be titled as Pacific Rim: Maelstrom and shooting is underway in Australia.
