THREATS FROM NORTH KOREA: G7 ministers condemned N. Korea

The foreign ministers from the Group of Seven industrialized nations have agreed to tighten sanctions on North Korea, and work to denuclearize the Korean peninsula.

The group issued a statement condemning "in the strongest terms" North Korea's latest nuclear test. It said they share a deep concern about Pyongyang's advancing nuclear and ballistic missile technologies.

The statement also said the G7 nations want to stop the serious violation of human rights in North Korea, and swiftly resolve the issue of abductions of foreign nationals.

In an apparent reference to China's activities in the East-and South-China Seas, the ministers said they oppose any unilateral actions that raise regional tensions. They called on all the parties to observe international law.

The statement also opposes the recent terrorist attacks, saying they will collaborate with the international community to lead the fight against terrorism.
