THREATS FROM NORTH KOREA: N.Korea ferry spotted during suspected SLBM launch

Reports indicate that a North Korean cargo-passenger vessel was operating in the same waters as a submarine when the North fired what appeared to be an SLBM last weekend.

Intelligence told that they have established where the cargo-passenger ship, Mangyongbong was sailing by analyzing satellite imagery and other evidence.

Sources say the vessel's movements were coordinated with the North Korean submarine when an apparent SLBM launch took place in the Sea of Japan near the coast of Sinpo on the 23rd of April. Also, the North may have used the ship, instead of a military vessel, to film and collect data on the suspected test-launch so that is military moves would not be detected.

The Mangyongbong used to travel between its home port on Wonsan near Sinpo and Niigata, Jpaan. The ship has been banned from entering Japanese ports for a decade as part of the nation's sanctions against North Korea for its nuclear tests and ballistic missile launches.
