Let's Do The News! (February 5, 2015)



Welcome back. Here is your current sitrep:

- Returning to the Ukraine Crisis, NATO will lay plans to strengthen the alliance's military presence in Eastern Europe in an ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. Some say, this will be the biggest reinforcement of its collective defence since the end of the Cold War.

- The European Central Bank began restricting financing to most of the banks of Greece. In their statement, the central bank will no longer accepting Greek government bonds as collateral for lending money to commercial banks. However, banks can still access funding through the Emergency Liquidity Assistance programme, run by the Greek central bank, and at a much higher cost to the banks.

- The Jordanian government vowed to strengthen their military offense against the Islamic State following the brutal killing of the captured Jordanian pilot by militants.

- Meanwhile, reports told that the United Arab Emirates suspended their airstrikes against ISIS due to fears for the safety of pilots following the killing of the captured Jordanian pilot. They said that they want US forces to establish better search-and-rescue capabilities in northern Iraq before resuming air strikes.

- According to the Ombudsman, the suspended police chief Alan Purisima may face contempt charges if he failed to comply with the preventive suspension order over his alleged hand in last week's Mamasapano clash that killed 44 SAF units.

- Famed Filipino boxer and Sarangani representative, Manny Pacquiao, was one of the special guests who attended the National Prayer Breakfast, an annual event hosted by the members of the US congress that gathers thousands of religious and political leaders worldwide.

- Doug Baldwin of the Seattle Seahawks got fined for $11k due to his obscene gesture he made after his third quarter touchdown during the Super Bowl XLIX.

- Emi Nitta, the voice actress behind Honoka Kosaka from the hit anime series Love Live! goes on hiatus due to her vocal cord polyps. That announcement really put a blow for our Love Livers, eh?

- Had fun enjoying The iDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS anime series? Guess what? The Rin Shibuya New Generation figure's back! She'll be returning to stores this July for around 8,380 Yen plus tax.
