In the 26th of December, 2013, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited the once-notorious Yasukuni Shrine to pay respects to those that fallen during World War II, especially those labeled as war criminals at that time. His visit may serve as the 1st anniversary since Abe regained his Prime Minister status last year but that enraged other nations heavily affected during WWII, including the United States, South Korea, China, and many others.
"I have no intention to neglect the feelings of the people in China and South Korea" Japan PM Abe said to the reporters.
This is the first time in seven years a Japanese PM entered the infamous war shrine where the dead who are honored include convicted war criminals. Former PM Junichiro Koizumi once visited that shrine before, causing a massive outrage from neighboring nations.
