The end of Evo?

Mitsubsihi Lancer Evolution X GSR
Premium

I read the bad news on Autoblog earlier that Mitsubishi Motors plans to pull the plug of the ever-favorite Lancer Evolution series in order to focus more on just "boring" eco-cars.

Scoop:

Mitsubishi said that the Lancer Evolution X will be the last of the Lancer Evolution history. Why would they decide that they would kill the Evo? We love the Mitsubishi Evo no matter what generation may be, even Evo III, Evo IV, Evo V, Evo VI, even the Evo VII, VIII, and IX.

Is it now "La Ocean Deep"? for the Mitsubishi Evo? Since the Evo X launched in late 2007 along with the 3rd-generation Subaru WRX STi, we enjoy watching these "Arch Rivals" clashing each other until 2010 marks Subaru's return of the WRX STi 4-door, resulting into two WRX STi bodies. I guess the Mitsubishi Evo's officially La Ocean Deep.

With Mitsubishi exited WRC, scaled down Ralliart operations, now killed the LanEvo franchise, what now? No more fun-to-drive Mitsubishi? That's just a lame excuse.

If Mitsubishi plans to revive it in the future, would it be another hybrid sports car that will end up being as boring as the CR-Z?

Question was, is the JDM culture diminishing?
